Cookie Policy

Transformation, Co. (formerly Altrix Technologies, Inc.)  ·  Effective date: August 12, 2026  ·  Version 1.0

1What this policy covers

This page lists every cookie and similar technology set by this website (latentvariables.com) and by our application (app.latentvariables.com), what each one does, and how long it lasts. The list is maintained against the code that sets the cookies: nothing here is generic boilerplate, and when a cookie is removed from the product this page changes with it.

2How consent works here

This website uses a consent banner we built ourselves, not a third-party consent platform. Non-essential cookies (analytics and advertising) are not set until you accept. Rejecting is a single click, presented identically to accepting, and your choice is remembered either way. Until you accept — and whenever you reject — the analytics and advertising scripts are not merely muted, they are never loaded: your browser makes no request to PostHog or Google at all, and any analytics cookies from an earlier visit are deleted on rejection.

Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage under the key lv-cookie-consent. That entry is strictly necessary: it is the record that lets us honor a refusal without asking again on every page.

3Cookies on latentvariables.com

We set no cookies of our own until you accept the banner. After acceptance, these are set:

NamePurposeDurationCategory
ph_phc_…_posthogPostHog analytics: an anonymous visitor identifier and event state, so we can see which pages are read. Data is sent to PostHog (us.i.posthog.com), our analytics processor.365 daysAnalytics
_gcl_auGoogle Ads conversion linker: connects an ad click to a later demo booking. Without acceptance, the Google tag never loads and Google receives nothing from your visit.~90 daysAdvertising

Third-party: Calendly

The contact section embeds the Calendly scheduling widget so you can book time with us. It loads from calendly.com in an iframe when a page with the scheduler renders, regardless of your banner choice, and may set Calendly's own cookies (for example session and security cookies) inside that iframe, governed by Calendly's cookie policy. We do not control these.

Fonts are self-hosted, so no font provider receives requests or sets cookies.

4Cookies on app.latentvariables.com

The application sets a small number of cookies that sign-in and security depend on. These are essential: the app cannot work without them, so they do not require consent.

NamePurposeDurationCategory
sessionidKeeps you signed in to the application.7 daysEssential
refresh_tokenRenews your sign-in without asking for your password again. HttpOnly; sent only to our API.7 daysEssential
admin_refresh_tokenPresent only for our staff during support sessions that act on a user's behalf.7 daysEssential (staff only)
csrftokenProtects form submissions on the admin and authorization screens against cross-site request forgery.1 yearEssential
ph_…_posthogPostHog product analytics: usage events and error reports that tell us what is broken or unused. Set across the app, including pages reached through shared links. Session replays, where enabled, mask all text and input.365 daysAnalytics
__ph_opt_in_out_…Records that analytics is paused, which we set during staff support sessions so they are not counted as user activity.365 daysFunctional

5Browser storage that is not a cookie

Both sites also use the browser's local storage for entries that never leave your device: this site stores your cookie choice (lv-cookie-consent); the application stores interface preferences such as light or dark theme, sidebar state, notification settings, unsent message drafts, and your first name for the greeting. When analytics is active, PostHog mirrors its cookie state in local storage as well. These entries stay on your device until you clear your browser data.

6Managing your choice

Change your mind any time. The button below — or the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of every page — clears your stored choice and reopens the banner, where rejecting is exactly as easy as accepting.

You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the essential cookies on app.latentvariables.com will prevent sign-in from working; blocking everything on this website costs you nothing but the banner reappearing.

7Changes

When we add, remove, or repurpose a cookie, we update this page in the same release and revise the effective date above.
